Past Toast
6th December 2008
Okay, so nobody brought a camera. You'll just have to imagine lots of pretty pictures.
Anyway - learning from previous events (and because the event was in December) we decided to have Toast indoors this time. It turned out that this was a good choice, although we missed out on the opportunity for skating in the car park given the sub-zero temperatures outdoors.
The most important thing to note about our December event was that there was pizza. Thankfully attendance wasn't too high (where were you?) so we all got to stuff our faces and feel very full. We also watched music videos and played games including pool, air hockey, Mario Kart (on the Wii) and Guitar Hero (on the Xbox). There was a quiz with a cash prize and we had a great time of worship (featuring some very loud music).
If you weren't there, you missed out! But don't worry, you can come to the next event instead!
21 June 2008
Our second Toast event - you'd have thought we would be starting to get a grip on what's going on by now...
We'd planned a great outdoor event with an inflatable assault course, barbecue and all kinds of things, but we'd also forgotten that we were in the UK. The weather clearly had other ideas so we switched the assault course for a double bungee challenge type thing (the assault course wouldn't have fitted in the hall).
The barbecue was still on, though, with an ingenious solution involving a fire escape. We still had a large pile of straw bails, too, so they ended up inside where they merrily deposited straw into every fibre of the carpet.
We upped the number of games for this event, so alongside air hockey and the inflatable we also had Wii Olympics, various Buzz games and Guitar Hero along with giant Jenga and the ever-present game of 'try not to get straw stuck anywhere embarrassing'.
All in all it was a lovely event and a great time was had by all. Well - that's how you might write it up in the local newspaper or typical church magazine. We like to be a little less reserved and would say:
The last Toast was a major world event with earth-shattering importance, which changed the lives of all the people who were lucky enough to experience it. There was also ice cream.

First event: 23 February 2008
This was our first Toast event, so it was a bit of an experiment... The giant inflatable bungee run took up vast quantities of floorspace and nearly reduced several people to gibbering wrecks. Thankfully major injuries were avoided (although some people's pride may have been a little dented).
Coffee was consumed, muffins and cookies were eaten and people chatted. The various games seemed to go down well too (as in positively received rather than being eaten).
There was a time of worship at the end, with lots of the songs being new to most people. The worship went on until late and most people stayed right to the end.
Check out the next event to find out how to get involved...
